Today was damn damn damn damn cool. Apart from the fact I finally tied up some loose ends with the never-ending homework pile, I also attended Raffles Rock’s DreaMix, a full-length powerhouse rock show at RJC MPH, with bands like Electrico, EIC, SpanishFly all coming together for a good cause.

Dreams @ Kolam Ayer is a centre for troubled teens, a centre with featured learning programs for them, such as skills, time management and hobbies and interests, to help them achieve their dreams. Dreams @ Kolam Ayer is a purely-Samaritan cause, and no proceeds whatsoever goes to the management staff, but are instead channelled into organising and planning activities and interest groups and lessons for the teens there.
Raffles Junior College and Dreams @ Kolam Ayer made some deal, and RJC sent over members from its Raffles Rock CCA group to coach a few teens on different musical instruments, vocal training and live performance. That prompted 5 teens from Dreams @ Kolam Ayer to form their own band, Minus Negative. RJC then decided to hold a full-length concert, featuring all-local talents, and showcasing for the first time, hidden talents such as Minus Negative as well as other bands like Zhen and more.
Okay. Enough talking. Time for the highlight of this post… the photos!
Started off the afternoon with a little touch-up on overdue work. Took a cab home to have lunch and change up.

2.55 pm. I had time. Changed up into my finest threads and blazoomed the way down to RJC. And can I say for the record that RI boys are the most boring bunch of people ever? Humurous, yes. Interesting, yes. Smart, yes. But if you want someone to go with you to some concert or performance thing, forget it. You’d have more chances asking a dog to go out with you.
To quote, Shawn had to study for Chinese Literature (like wth?). David had to take care of his siblings. Chen Xuan had swimming. Terence just didn’t feel like going. Chris mysteriously vanished. I was completely shocked. So I asked Bryan Nah. He said ‘See first’ , and turns out he had overslept in his afternoon nap and hence could not come. I SO totally did NOT believe that for one second.

Me and my style of concert wear… casual chic. So I had no choice but to go there alone. And guess who I met?

My friend Seah Wang Ling! She brought along a friend Diana Nai, who I also know from last year Oi! Sleeping Beauty, which I went with Chen Xuan and the two girls.
Diana of course was very shy, so she became the photo-taker instead of photo-takee.
Following that… start of the show!
First up… ELECTRICO!!!!!!!

First act of the night and can I say they totally blew up the entire stage? The organisers were smart to put Electrico first because the energy level was totally high at the start.
Daniel Bassoon and the lead singer David.

Daniel (right) actually was from RJC!!! Wah siao, it was so cool lorh. One minute jamming the guitar, next minute “I’m from RJC…” Super cool i tell you. Everyone was cheering. David is the lead singer, the one on the left.
Now, for the guys, photos of Amanda, and Daniel, Electrico band members.

In case some ppl very dots one… Amanda is OBVIOUSLY the girl with the cap in charge of keyboard and organ, while Daniel is again the guitar-jammer. Amanda jamming on the keyboards. In case some guys also dunno, she was featured on FHM mag as the first female musician to be featured on such an, ahem, magazine. I dunno the names of two of the members, the drummer and this geeky-looking guitarist.

Okay, I was so totally envying the RJ girl who got the chance to go up lorh. David wanted her to dedicate the song ‘Walk’, out of their upcoming album (out in June, go get it!) to her friends.

Oh yeah, and four RJ guys behind me kept asking me to take photos of Amanda and send to him. SO despo… Now… for the big bang of the Electrico performance… “I Want You”, the same song that shot them to fame and also the song people remember them by.

Well, end of that performance. Short interlude. Then some RJ band, which I forgot the name of, but they performed a Creed song and an original piece, which I must say, was excellently good and quite catchy. They just need the credibility.
Then, after that… Spanishfly.

The songs were ok lah… gearing more toward loud and fierce than tuneful and catchy.
And then another interlude. Wang Ling, Diana and I were very very very bored in that short span of time… so I let Diana take some photos of me… (of course I’m photoslut, rmb?)

Okay, enough crapping. Interlude over, and it was another RJ band. This was an all-guitar band, with female lead singers… the first in the concert so far!

Very nice guitar-playing, not enough nice tunes. Got bored after a while, but the guitar was good enough to sway too, prompting me, Wang Ling and Diana to sway like trees in the wind.

Then another local band… RJC also, I think. Was listening to the band for a while, then realized I was super super thirsty because I screamed too much, esp. for Electrico.
I headed out to get a drink and guess what I SAW?

Only a handful of people, close friends, know what these two words mean to me…
And I returned to the seat. It was another mini-interlude, so the three of us fooled around with the cams again. Here is Diana’s back and Wang Ling’s hair.

See lah. Diana take can also take until liddat. Show the one little looks-like-balding-but-isn’t-balding spot that my hair gel could not cover up.
And now for even more candid shots of me. The NUMBERS game.
ONE!

TWO!

SEVEN!

NINE!

Wth… Enough gayness already. Interlude over, and the hall promptly exploded with the sound of music.
Out comes E-I-C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo!!!
EIC, for the less musically-educated people out there, is a very very cool band which plays in bars and clubs and puts spins on popular modern hits. EIC is also, interestingly, headed by (drumroll) A TEACHER IN RJC! The teacher in RJC is the lead singer of EIC, and he’s called Mr. Sivar (sp.) or smethng. Everyone totally enjoyed EIC. Especially me.
EIC was doing all the hits I liked.
All-Star, by Smashmouth, Fix You, by Coldplay, No Such Thing by John Mayer, You and I Both by Jason Mraz (as an encore performance!), Vertigo by U2 and others… I was so hyped and jumping okay! The teachers of RJC are really cool. That lead singer guy is the Indian guy, btw.

Looks like everyone really enjoyed the concert. And why wouldn’t they? It was really hyper and really cool. And the hand that is straight up in that photo, is MY hand ah, btw.
However, due to my fanatical obsession with The Amazing Race and Survivor, as Yiling puts it, an unhealthy TV show hooker, I had to leave the last part as TAR had already started (10.30 pm, eh, pls lorh!) and hence could not catch Minus Negative, which was supposed to be the highlight of the show, at the last part. Darn.

On an even darker note, Fu Zhi Hao was at the concert too. Fugly, idiotic, stupid, rude, useless and scrawny Fu Zhi Hao, was there too. It was utterly horrendous to see him, because the first thing he said to me was ‘Fuck off lah.’ That pissed me off so much you know. WHAT GIVES HIM THE RIGHT TO TELL ME TO FUCK OFF? WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS? Never mind, I’ll blog about it more tmr, this post is already rather long. Besides, I’m supposed to be cheerful. Even Wang Ling, ex-classmate to me and Zhi Hao (no association here pls) said she was shocked to hear it. She was totally surprised at how fugly Fu Zhi Hao had changed for the worse.
Well, I enjoyed myself today. That’s all that matters. Some fugly and skinny monkey-looking creature can’t ruin today’s fun. Great concert. Kudos to Raffles Rock, Electrico, and EIC. But most importantly, support Dreams @ Kolam Ayer! Most proceeds from ticket sales will go to Dreams @ Kolam Ayer. Ciao! Thanx Wang Ling and Diana for spending time with me! Cya soon!
