I STILL Think You’re Wrong

Which is False?

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 11:01 am

1. My favorite movie of all time is Sister Act.
FALSE. My favorite movie of all time, unrivalled, is TITANIC.
2. The most music CDs i have in my collection are those of Original Soundtracks.
True. I have quite a lot of soundtracks, including Bridget Jones Diary 2, Touched By An Angel as well as, you guessed it, Titanic.
3. I detest Ruben Studdard.
True. I think he is the lousiest American Idol.
4. My most favorite actress is Reese Witherspoon.
True. Reese is totally the BOMB!
5. Once when I was in Primary 4 I dreamt one of my friends would fall down and hurt himself, and he did two days later.
True. The friend in question here is Hui Hua, who fell down in front of the toilet next to the canteen. He probably doesn’t remember.
6. When I was young I went around telling people my birthday was in July because I couldn’t remember the names of the other months.
True. That was all the way back in Primary One. I remember it so clearly because after I learnt the other months, I told people my birthday was now in June and everyone asked me whether I was born twice.
7. My greatest wish is to join canoeing and paddle to victory!
FALSE. Canoeing is one of my wishes/dreams, yes, but the greatest wish I have is to GO INTO SPACE.
8. My favorite colours is blue (any shade).
True. No reference to Morrison here. I just love blue and black (nothing to do with bruises either!).
9. I once had very high fever and nearly died.
True. I was in primary school then and it was very scary. Temperature reached 42 degrees.
10. My greatest fear is of heights.
FALSE. My greatest fear… shan’t tell you! It’s private. Only a few close friends know. But it’s definitely NOT HEIGHTS.
11. I once had an OOBE (Out Of Body Experience).
True. I saw my own body sleeping during my high fever period, after which I had this horrible dream which I think is a Near-Death Experience. Shan’t tell you about that either.
12. When I am sleepy, I start talking crap.
True. People who have been online talking to me on MSN at 2 am in the morning will know what I am like. Charmaine and Shawn know especially well.
13. The people I hate the most are people who have no sense of humor.
FALSE. I hate people who ARE NOT THEMSELVES. Figure that one out yourself.
14. I once thought the meaning of the word Homesick was being sick of home.
True. My mom corrected me afterward.
15. Out of all the characters from Archie comics my favorite is Jughead.
True. Who doesn’t love Jughead? Humorous, eats a lot but skinny, and very very funny. I own a lot of Jughead comics. Still a good read during the school hols.
16. When I was little I had slight asthma.
True. But it just ‘phased’ out after Primary Three.
17. I once drank 20 bottles of Yakult in one day and vomitted them all out the next.
True. During Primary Four I drank a lot of Yakult and threw it all up the next morning. My vomit actually smelled sweet. From then on whenever I drink Yakult I am reminded of that incident years ago.
18. I was once bitten by a bulldog.
FALSE. NEVER HAPPENED.
19. My favorite drink is Green Tea (canned AND the real thing).
True. Love Green Tea! Who doesn’t?
20. At one point my favorite thing to say was ‘Blessed Be’.
True. Completely true, and that was in Secondary One, where I liked how ‘Blessed Be’ sounded. Pronounced Bles-sed Be, it’s what Wiccans say before a ritual. All ex-2Gians can attest to that period of weirdness from me. They’ve gotten used to my weirdness since then.

Those not true: 1, 7, 10, 13, 18

Did you get them correct?

If you got 4/5 or 5/5 (one person did) then you know me very well! Congrats… I think! Cheers!

You Give Me Wings

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 1:40 pm

Yep.
You give me wings to fly.

Hady won!!!!

Okay I’m not too happy about that. As in, I’m happy, sure, but not SUPER DUPER happy. Cause I was rooting for Jonathan, but I guess Hady deserved it. His ‘You Give Me Wings’ was so darn catchy and inspirational. And what was Jonathan thinking, trying to sing a ballad???! He should have upped the rock ante. He could NEVER beat Hady at rock!

In any case, today’s results show was one hell of a mind blowing thing!

Rahimah Rahim (the original) was helluva good. Electrico and Jon and Hady combined took the house down. And if you look past the fact that the other 10 Idols were lip synching to their own versions of their songs you realize that the energy was very high and very strong… until, ironically, Energy came on.

Yeah, it was a very weird finals. Lip synching to their own versions of songs is still a first to me. In any case, it was still one of the better Singapore Idol episodes, if you can call it that.

Anyway, Hady, I guess, deserved to win.

But yet Mathilda and Emilee were best ah! =D

Anyway, I have to get back to studying. Really busy now. A lot of projects going on and studying and quizzes and tests and stuff. I am so crushed and overloaded with work.

First thing: Linear Law TA and Chem OBA!

Onwards Singapore!

Take this Fun Test of Friendship

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 11:11 am

Taken from Wang Ling’s blog…

One. Think of 15 short bits of interesting stuff about yourself. And they’ve gotta be true.
Two. Come up with 5 false statements regarding yourself, but for fun’s sake keep them in the threshold of believability.
Three. Jumble them all up together and list them in any order.
Four. Post them on your blog and let people guess which the five false ones are!
Five. Get 5 others to do the same.

Now, the objective for you guys is to guess which are the five false ones (as mentioned above) as a test of how well you know me! Post either comments (I dunno how, cos this blog doesnt let me) OR you can tag OR you can send me an email OR you can tell me on MSN!

Here goes!

1. My favorite movie of all time is Sister Act.
2. The most music CDs i have in my collection are those of Original Soundtracks.
3. I detest Ruben Studdard.
4. My most favorite actress is Reese Witherspoon.
5. Once when I was in Primary 4 I dreamt one of my friends would fall down and hurt himself, and he did two days later.
6. When I was young I went around telling people my birthday was in July because I couldn’t remember the names of the other months.
7. My greatest wish is to join canoeing and paddle to victory!
8. My favorite colours is blue (any shade).
9. I once had very high fever and nearly died.
10. My greatest fear is of heights.
11. I once had an OOBE (Out Of Body Experience).
12. When I am sleepy, I start talking crap.
13. The people I hate the most are people who have no sense of humor.
14. I once thought the meaning of the word Homesick was being sick of home.
15. Out of all the characters from Archie comics my favorite is Jughead.
16. When I was little I had slight asthma.
17. I once drank 20 bottles of Yakult in one day and vomitted them all out the next.
18. I was once bitten by a bulldog.
19. My favorite drink is Green Tea (canned AND the real thing).
20. At one point my favorite thing to say was ‘Blessed Be’.

Now, some questions my secondary school friends might not know, but if they think hard they can tell whether am I making something up or not. For the most part, this questionnaire quiz game can be done by anyone, and for most of my friends they should score at least 3/5 (come on lah, at least PASS can?) Get the answers to me in many different ways! (see above)

The 5 people I tag to also make their own quiz game as well are: Bryan Chia, Zeen, Shawn, Mikey and Daniel Keng. Also Sue, if she reads this and has NOT forgotten me!

Try it! It’s fun! You can do it on your own blog too!

Answers coming up after a few posts!

Ahhh, the story of my life

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 12:35 pm

My notebook has crashed… yet again.

Why am I not surprised?

CTs are coming up and I’m not kan cheong at all even though I never study.

Why am I not surprised?

I realized I have over 80 links and they’re all so messy everyone is complaining they cannot find their blog on my links. And yet I’m not doing anything to change it.

Why am I not surprised?

I love McFly.

Why am I not surprised?

Time is passing so fast.

Why am I not surprised?

Happy birthday Shawn and Tingzhang! Im sorry if my post sounds so morose. I am like that one lah, before the exams. =P

Happy birthday to Shawn, cool prefect dude. Happy birthday Ting, who is the only one I know that can run 2.4 km in 8 minutes and below.

Happy birthday!!!

I Take Back What I Said

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 4:45 am

Okay, I admit…

I was wrong.

I take it back.

Jasmine can sing.

She can sing, all right? She can make tunes come out of her mouth using her larynx and make them sound good.

So I admit, she was a bit off on Wednesday with that AWFUL rendition of Some Hearts. But My Valentine, as well as last week’s Rent track, as well as that BEAUTIFUL Foolish Games by Jewel, made her image change.

Okay, so here’s the deal. Instead of Some Hearts, she should have done a Christina Aguilera and did a Beautiful, which is nice and tuneful, something that she can definitely handle.

In any case, the finals are now down to Hady Mirza and Jonathan Leong, and it is with full support that I root for Jonathan. Okay, so I would have preferred Mathilda D’ Silva, but now that it is another male-male final, Jonathan has what it takes. Such a deep voice, such amazing vocal chops… no doubt we need that deep voice as an icon.

Now, in other news, I will be blogging much less in the next few days, cos the CTs are sneaking up on me and trying to take me out when I’m not looking. So I gotta keep my guard up. My GPA so needs to improve.

Now, Jasmine, good luck, cause you got a bright future. If Olinda Cho can do so well, you can too. Then again, Oli had a better voice, but hey, you can sing. Just needs a bit of finetuning, Jasmine, and then you can take on the world.

Sigh…

Singapore Idol is kinda boring now. But I won’t be sayin anything in the next few weeks, until the finals appraoch… then blogging will tempt me again.

P.S The new Mcfly song is deadly. Deadly infectious. It is killer and completely completely stuck-in-your-head crazy. I cannot believe how addicted i am to it. It’s beyond comprehension. Who knew a song called ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ can destroy me utterly and completely? Their single rocks, btw. You all should buy it. Support IP, destroy piracy. =D

Today is a Friday in a School Holiday

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 4:05 pm

Today is a Friday in a school holiday.

And today, being a Friday in a School Holiday, is super super busy.

I cannot even begin to say how busy it was, and how pissed I was at the end of this day, when I am typing this post.

Let me recap.

8 am – 9 am
Woke up, brushed teeth, ate cup noodles for Breakfast (I <3 Tom Yam!) and drowsily turned on Tata Young’s Temperature Rising to snap me awake. (Rain rain rain, I’m burning up in here, ready or not, OPEN UP! You GOT my temperature rising LIKE El-Nin YO!)

9 am – 10 am
Went to Serangoon Swimming Complex to swim and tan a bit. Now my skin’s looking only remotely darker.

10 am – 10.30 am
Took bus down to Raffles Institution, where I was meeted with some banner reading ‘Go with the flow’. Ah, prefect elections again. How fast time creeps up on me.

10.30 – 11.45 am
Worked on Photo club ‘business’. Pin Hong, me and Jeremy put up the Interhouse Photography Competition 2006 Exhibition. All you Rafflesians, be sure to go down and take a look at the EXCELLENT photos ah! Got slightly sidetracked by Mrs Rosie Smith who asked me to take part in The Arena, some debating competition organised by Mediacorp. Told her I would consider.

11.45 am – 12.30 pm
Supposed to meet Shawn at Somerset MRT to pick out his book for ERP, but in the end I was late by an hour (we were supposed to meet at 11.30 am) but I had to go stop at Novena to pick up the Westlife concert tickets I pre-booked from Sistic. In the end Shawn at first very pissed, but then softened up as we walked. =P

12.30 pm- 1.30 pm
Wandered about the stretch of Orchard road, walking all the way from Somerset MRT to Orchard MRT, and then entered Borders, where we proceeded to insult the beauty of literature with very unglam words. Americans that heard us probably thought we were there to ‘Kill a Mockingbird’! HAHAHAHA. Insider joke. Then poor Chor Hiang, David (Tat Wai), Ms Quah and even Shawn’s sister were tormented as we called them while trying to find a book. Then Shawn chose some play by Samuel Beckett or something. Then I picked up a Cinnamon Ice Blended at the Coffee Bean outside before shawn and I headed for lunch.

1.30 pm – 3 pm
Total crap-talking session at Burger King. Seriously. We just sat in the Burger King outside Liat Towers and just gossiped, talked nonsense, about history, memories, some mutual friends, Habbo, studies, teachers, and we just talked and joked lah.

3 pm – 4 pm
Went arcade with Shawn and we played a whole bunch of games. But I tell you, the most fun and exciting game we played has GOT to be the Spot the Difference between the Photos that one. Really really addictive. =P

4 pm – 5pm
Shawn went to cut hair. By himself lol. So I split with him and went Heeren, where I browsed CDs, and bought a shirt for myself. Then Shawn told me Zeen, Elaine, Rongfang and ‘Fudge’ and some of the others were meeting later. So I decided to rush.

5 pm – 6 pm
Took MRT back to Bishan, then 156 back to Serangoon Gardens.

6 pm – 6.45 pm
Gymmed a bit with home weights to fit into my tee, and then showered in record speed, followed by cologne spray, Listerine, slight gel, and making sure all the tickets I had brought (if not Chen Xuan and Louis would EAT ME UP).

6.45 pm – 7.30 pm
I tell you, the transport in Singapore really sucks at some times. To boast a si tong ba da (well-accessible) transport system, a person must be able to get from Serangoon to Junction 8 in 30 minutes or less. It took me 20 minutes alone to get a taxi and head off through the jams. If I hd taken bus it would have been worse. The roads are so bad at evenings. And later I had another bad experience with transport, but that’s later. So at 7.30 pm, I was half an hour late (supposed to meet Zeen and Elaine and the others at Lid at 7!!!) :O

7.30 – 8.00 pm
This is the part that elevatd my blood pressure. Throughout my entire rush-rush to Singapore Indoor Stadium, Chen Xuan and Louis call me SO MANY TIMES I wanted to EXPLODE! And Louis call the most lah. Like he no need to pay liddat. Call and call and call. I was so crazed because they said the door was about to close by 8.10!

8.00 pm – 8.30 pm
ARRRRRGH!!!!! Taxi, taxi!!! WHY NO TAXI?! Transport is sooo bad! ARRRRGH!!!!

8.30 pm
NOW then the concert start! And I went inside with Louis and Chen Xuan at 8.15. See lah, I had 15 minutes to relax one.

8.30 pm – 10. 30 pm
Complete randomness. The Westlife concert was so weird. I didnt bring camera cos my Powershot is konked up. (Daniel, if you hear this, Canon is NOT infallible) And so the concert began. Good songs, good singing. But the energy was so god-damn low.

The Senorita part was worst. Apparently people in the crowd are fans of Westlife, and not Justin Timberlake.

And I tell you, the Don’t Cha was fucking weird. It was horribly gay and gross. WESTLIFE actually went, ” DON’T CHA wish your GIRLFRIEND was hot like us?” Like, WHAT?! Girlfriend? Hence I told Louis and Chen Xuan this must have been Mark Feehily’s idea.

And then Mark tripped during Seasons of the Sun. Either him or Nick. But I didnt catch that part.
And then they tried to play some weird trick, by leaving at 9.45, way before original slated ending time. So we were like, “WHHHHHAT?” Then they come out and sing again, this time ending with You Raise Me Up. Louis said it was a joke. Chris says it was encore. I say it’s a trick. A very weird and stupid one at that.

Overall, not the best concert, but not the worst one I went to.

10.30 pm – 11.30 pm
This is the worst part. The worst part of a concert is AFTER it. Where there’s a rush for the bus 11 and 16, and the taxis are all either On Call or Hired. Those cheaters. Should never be On Call. It’s like cheating to get a taxi. I called Chris and asked him to take cab with me, but he refused. Then Chen Xuan and Louis went to share cab (like what Chris and I did last time) cause they live near each other or something. And I realized again just how inefficient Singapore’s transportation at night is.

So in the end, I started walking all over the entire Kallang area, down to Mountbatten road, where I became very pissed after receiving calls from SH, and confirming his news with Bryan and Daryl. I then vented my frustration at Zeen, Shawn and Alaric, who heard me rant over my phone like no one’s business. *sighs*

Couldnt find a taxi and was making me sweatier. I became so pissed and tired I actually wanted to give up, just lie down and sleep on the parking spaces and leave it at that. But if there’s anything I learnt this week, it’s that I should never give up and treasure my life.

So I just closed my eyes, focused, gathered my energies, and went around taxi-hunting. Found one eventually.

12.00 am
Finally arrived home! Been out for more than 12 hours! *gasps* Not my worst yet. That time, during Bel Canto, where Nah dragged me around Orchard, that was the worst. =P But I managed to get home. And now I am blogging.

Cheers! Now asking Zeen and Elaine about how the dinner went!

Good night everyone!

Condolences to Zhi Hao

Filed under: Uncategorized — by karliang @ 3:48 pm

I had a post up earlier expressing my emotions and thoughts on Zhi Hao’s departure, but due to some concerns and some personal wishes of some of Zhi Hao’s close friends I took down that post.

I just hope that wherever he is, Zhi Hao will know that we love him and still care for him.

And he will continue to watch us, to be in our lives, to learn about everything we do.

I have saved that post privately, so that I do not forget my feelings toward this unfortunate incident.

Taken from Ms Chia Yueh Chin’s blog at http://mschia.blogspot.com:

His parents believe that elders should not send off the younger generation so they request for his RI friends to send him off this Thursday.

The cortege will start off at 8.30am and there will be a bus leaving from RI at 8 am. Please be at school atrium by 7.30 am tomorrow morning. Please be punctual.

The wake is at 37 Sin Ming Drive #01-565 Teck Hin Parlour. He will be cremated at Mandai Crematorium. The obituary will be appearing in the Straits Times tomorrow.

There is already an article in Lian He Wan Bao today, but it is best that this incident does not receive too much external publicity. Close friends of Zhi Hao request that this incident not be openly mentioned or published on Internet with too many details.

May he find peace.

Blessed be.
